The National Milling Co. of Guyana Inc. (NAMILCO) is an ISO 9001 certified manufacturing company. In order to comply with the ISO 9001:2015 Standard NAMILCO has to ensure that certain production procedures are established, implemented, and maintained by each department involved and that the system is audited continually by a group of trained Quality Auditors for compliance, as well as to determine ways and means of improving the processes. The production processes are also audited annually by SGS (Société Générale de Surveillance) to ensure compliance with the ISO 9001:2015 Standards. NAMILCO was ISO 9001 certified on May 01, 2009.
NAMILCO’s operations are food-related, and as such must ensure compliance with Food Safety regulations. The Quality Assurance Department – the Laboratory or Lab – is integral in ensuring food safety and product quality.
Quality and Food Safety Policy Statement
National Milling Company of Guyana Inc., scope covers manufacturing and distribution of wheat products and sub-products which includes reception, cleaning, storage, conditioning and milling of different types of wheat products as well as bagging, loading and delivery. Namilco is also a company dedicated to manufacturing and striving for:
- High-quality, wholesome wheaten flour and sub-products (specialty flour products) at competitive prices that are suitable for the purpose, safe to consume, and consistently conform to mutually agreed customer specifications and applicable national and/or international food safety regulations.
- Excellent customer services by assuring timely product availability and distribution to all customers and consumers and pre-and-post delivery support.
- Ensuring any returned product meets our quality and food safety procedures with the implementation of a guaranteed return policy.
- A safe and healthy work environment for employees, customers, visitors, and contractors.
The organization provides a framework for setting, reviewing and continually improving the following objectives at least once a year and/or as required:
- Gaining Food Safety Certification by June 2025
- Increasing competency roles by 20% by Dec 2025
- Establish an improved traceability system by April 2025
In addition, Namilco is dedicated to operating within the ISO 9001:2015 & ISO 22000:2018 requirements as well as the statutory and regulatory requirements while promoting interactive internal and external communication and is committed to reviewing the Quality and Food Safety Policy, Objectives and Management System at planned intervals to ensure continual improvement, suitability and effectiveness to the purpose of the organization.
