The National Milling Company of Guyana Inc. (NAMILCO) was, for a third time, recognized for being compliant with the highest levels of standards and quality at the Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS) third National Quality Awards (NQA) Ceremony. Presentations were made during a function held on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at Parc Rayne, Rahaman’s Park, East Bank Demerara.
NAMILCO emerged WINNER in the Manufacturing Category, copping three awards:
Overall Winner – Manufacturing
Winner – Continuous Improvement, Manufacturing
Winner – Environmental Initiatives, Manufacturing
The GNBS NQA criteria were primarily based on the Quality Management Principles of the ISO 9001: 2015 Standard which includes; Customer Focus, Improvement, Process Approach, Engagement of People, Leadership and Evidence-Based Decision Making, Relationship Management, Competence, Safety & Health and Environmental Guidelines.
The National Quality Awards Programme is Guyana’s first such programme to recognize local businesses for demonstrating their commitment to quality systems and best practices in both the production of goods and delivery of services.
Thirty-Six (36) local Guyanese companies vied for Awards in five (5) categories in this year’s edition of the GNBS NQA Programme. NAMILCO emerged the winner in 3 of the 5 manufacturing categories for demonstrating their commitment to quality based on the results of assessment audits conducted by the GNBS.
