The National Milling Company of Guyana Inc. (NAMILCO) has been advised of reports circulating in the marketplace, about increases in the prices of NAMILCO’S products, including Thunderbolt and Maid Marian product lines. These reports surfaced shortly after the announcement of large increases in the price of flour in a neighboring Caricom country.
The management of Namilco wishes to advise our loyal customers and the general public that we have NOT increased the prices of ANY of our products and ask resellers of our products to desist from increasing prices to the public. Anyone who insists on increasing prices, without justification, will risk being reported to the Consumers Affairs Division of the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce.
Consumers, however, should expect to see significant increases in the prices of imported flour because of the increases implemented in their home market. We do not expect to see these products subsidized in the Guyana market in breach of Caricom rules.
The National Milling Company of Guyana Inc. will continue to monitor the costs of wheat and production inputs with the aim of reducing the price of flour as soon as it is practicable.
